    Suicide Squad Earns $300 Million

The good news for Suicide Squad isn’t over either, as industry forecasters are predicting that the film will likely bring in another $50 million plus in its second weekend, easily retaining the #1 spot. That said, it’s doubtful Squad manages to ultimately outdo the domestic totals of either BVS or Man of Steel, the former being $330 million and the latter being $291 million. Then again, the budget for Squad was substantially lower than either of those movies, presumably due to characters like Harley Quinn and Deadshot not possessing the name recognition and star power of American icons like Batman and Superman.

With the bad reviews reportedly serving as motivation for the cast and crew of Justice League to improve the DCEU’s critical fortunes, it’ll be interesting to see what specific lessons DC and Warner Bros. take from the complaints against Squad. Either way, it’s hard to imagine that the film won’t at least turn a profit at this point, albeit possibly not a huge one.

Suicide Squad is in theaters now. Wonder Woman opens on June 2, 2017; Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; an untitled DC Film on October 5, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; an untitled DC film on November 1, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash and Batman solo movie are currently without release dates.

Suicide Squad Joker And Harley Quinn

Don’t underestimate the box office traction of Warner Bros. Suicide Squad. In its fifth day at the box office, the David Ayer DC villain movie took in $14.27M, up 9% from Monday. Of course, that’s a record Tuesday in August, and as we’ve seen all along, Suicide Squad keeps whomping Disney/Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy records. That film previously owned the Tuesday high for August with $11.9M. But here’s what Suicide Squad‘s till yesterday outflanks when it comes to Tuesday highs: Captain America: Civil War‘s at $13.76M, Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s $13.1M and Batman v. Superman‘s $12.7M Tuesday.
